HP Sprout: Replaces the keyboard with a 3D camera and projector

20:09

Get ready for a whole new experience as Hewlett Packard introduces its all new Sprout. The all new HP sprout replaces the standard keyboard and mouse with a 20-point, 20 inch projected touchpad. Besides the projector, the Sprout also has a high resolution camera and a 3D scanner that allows you to easily ‘upload’ objects into the Sprout just by placing the object on the mat.

Now, let us have a look at the specification that this high-end computer has got under its cover.

The all-in-one Personal Computer, The Sprout itself is pretty unremarkable. It has a Core i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 23-inch touchscreen and comes with the Microsoft Windows 8.1. It comes with a large 20-inch touchpad, or we should rather say a 20-inch mat that supports 20 point multitouch which makes it possible for more than one user to work on it at same time. The charm of Sprout, though, is in the visor like outgrowth that sprouts out the top of the display screen, which HP call the HP Illuminator. Apart from all these, there is an Intel RealSense 3D camera, a 14.6 megapixel camera, and an HP DLP Projector. It also has a LED desk lamp which could rather prove to be useful for work. I would also like to point out the fact that you do get a wireless mouse and keyboard with the Sprout, but using them would definitely question the features if the Sprout.

All of these exciting features of Sprout combine to provide an interesting blend of functions, from projecting a keyboard to scanning objects and documents. The Sprout is surely going to be a thing of interest for the young ones.  But, this amazing thing also has con, it does not support gesture based inputs in spite of having such a high tech being integrated.

After reading all this, if you decide to get your hands on the HP Sprout, you can pre-order it on the HP Website, and it is tagged at a price of $1900. And more significantly, Best Buy and Microsoft Stores will have the HP Sprout on display, if you just want to try it out before making a final decision.
