Just after a few days of release of Google Fit, Microsoft has showcased its cards – The Microsoft Band.
The Microsoft Band is a cross platform fitness oriented Smartwatch that is tagged at a price of $200. It is a sort of a wearable computer with a fitness tracker. This band also has some Smartwatch like features and it has a small touchscreen display screen of 1.4 inch with a resolution of 320x106 pixels. But if you want to use this Microsoft Band to its full, you would need an app called Microsoft Health.  This application shows some really nice graphs and tracks various fitness related activities that you do while wearing the Microsoft Band.

Everything Inside of The Microsoft Band

The Microsoft Band has many sensors in it like the heart rate sensor, GPS and even the UV sensor that can tell you when you have to go to look for your sunscreen. The band features 24 hour heart rate monitoring and the company claims that the Microsoft Band has a battery life of 48 Hours.
The interface, as expected looks a pretty much like a Windows Phone as it shows some animations and other graphic things which are pretty similar to those in Windows Phones.  This Band can show you some notifications, help you work with your messages, and incoming call too. But if you are thinking that you would need a Windows phone to use this Microsoft Band, then it is not like what you think. This device is a cross platform device and an Android or iPhone would go just fine with it.
Now coming to the Microsoft Health App; it is a cloud based “actionable insight” engine that gives you feedback after taking data from your Microsoft Band or any other compatible fitness tracker. This app can tell you about the most effective exercise you did, can tell you the rest time you need before your next session and can even tell you about how good the sleep you had last night was.  This app is also supported on iOS and Android OS including the Windows Phone. To check your fitness status, you can even log into the cloud based engine from you PC.

In whole, I would say that Microsoft Band is a good one, in features as well as in timing. But one thing that can prove to be a drawback for the Band is its price of $200 which falls on a bit of expensive side and this price can make you think that you would buy it as your present in the next festive season.

If you like it, please do share it!! Cheers!!
