Hewlett Packard has just taken the wraps off from its latest
dedicated gaming Laptop: The Omen. This seems that Hewlett Packard is directly taking
the fight to Razer gaming laptops.
The Omen has got a 2.5Ghz Intel Core i7 quad-core processor
(4710HQ) with a 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860m GPU with a memory of
2GB. This awesome machine has a 15.6-inch 1080p touch screen display.
Solid-State drives (SDDs) handle the storage duties in all configurations.
However, the base system will come with SATA-based Solid-State drives with
storage capacity of 128GB but the higher-end SKUs come with PCIe connectivity
supported for their Solid-State drives.
The Omen is just 0.78 inches at its thickest point with its
CNC machined aluminum frame and this gaming laptop has a reasonable weight of
4.68 pounds. With these high-end specifications under the hood, the Omen is
powered by a 4-cell 58 WHr battery that has a heavy load to bear. But this
battery can keep the Omen running for just a period of four hours and forty
five minutes (4-hours 45-minutes) per charge that I think is not enough for a
gamer, but this can be brushed aside by the promising features the laptop has.
Some of the key features of the Omen include four USB 3.0
ports, mini-Display Port, 802.11ac, HDMI, a backlit keyboard and backlit
speaker grilles which add up to the Omen’s beauty.
The Hewlett Packard company has tagged the Omen at a price
of $1,500, however if you want to step up to a 256GB PCIe- based SSD and a
dedicated GPU with 4GB of DDR5 memory, you will have to pay a price of $1,700.
The Omen also comes with a 16GB of RAM and a 512MB PCIe-based SSD but the
prices are not yet announced for this model.
Those who want the HP Omen can preorder the gaming laptop
right now, and the machine will be shipped at a later point this month.
